WHAT IT IS

Above-fireplace TV mounting is one of our most requested installs. Done right, it centers your living space around a clean focal point. Done wrong, it damages the TV or ends up in an awkward spot that nobody can actually watch.

The two things that matter are height and heat. Every fireplace is different, and we look at each one individually before we commit to the install. Gas fireplaces and electric fireplaces often put out far less heat than a wood-burning unit, so what works above one type may not work above another. We measure from the top of the fireplace and read the actual situation in front of us.

OUR RULE

If you have a mantel, we work with the mantel height. If you do not have a mantel, we mount at minimum 12 inches above the fireplace opening. This keeps your TV safer from heat and gives you a viewing angle that actually works.

There are exceptions. Some fireplaces are not good candidates for an above-fireplace mount at all, and when that is the case, we tell you honestly before we start.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Every above-fireplace install gets this. No upsells. No surprises.

  • Full-motion or tilt mount (customer's choice)

  • Masonry, stone, tile, and brick anchoring

  • Mantel-safe spacing calculations

  • Cable routing tailored to your fireplace

  • Heat-aware mounting position

  • Leveled, tested, and finished clean

THE REAL TALK

WILL THE HEAT DAMAGE MY TV?

Not if the install is done right. Most TV damage from fireplace installs comes from mounting too low or ignoring the heat profile of the fireplace itself. A gas or electric fireplace puts out much less heat than a wood-burning one, which changes what is possible. We measure, we look at the fireplace type, and we mount accordingly.

DOES MY FIREPLACE WORK FOR THIS?

Most of the time, yes. If you have a mantel, we use it. If you do not, we maintain at least 12 inches above the fireplace opening as a minimum. That covers the vast majority of installs. A small number of fireplaces are not good candidates for above-fireplace mounting, and we will tell you honestly when that is the case.

  • Wow! What a great experience having a professional like Mike to wall mount our 75 inch TV. He had great communication and he was prompt, professional, and friendly. Don't be tempted to hire a generic handyman to mount your expensive TV when you can hire a real Pro like Mike. We give him our highest recommendation!

COMMON QUESTIONS

  • How high should the TV be above the fireplace?
If you have a mantel, we work with the mantel height. If you do not, we mount at a minimum of 12 inches above the fireplace opening. This is the rule we follow on every above-fireplace install.
  • Will the heat from the fireplace damage the TV?
Only if the install ignores the heat. We measure from the top of the fireplace and consider the fireplace type. A gas or electric fireplace puts out far less heat than a wood-burning unit, which gives us more flexibility.
  • Can you mount on stone, brick, or tile?
Yes. Most fireplace surrounds are one of these materials. We carry the right hardware and technique for each. Stone, brick, and tile each anchor differently, and we handle all three regularly.
  • Do I need a special mount for a fireplace install?
Any standard mount can work for an above-fireplace install if the height and heat are right. There is also a dedicated product called a MantelMount, a specific brand that is designed to sit above a fireplace and pull down to a lower viewing height on demand. If you want one, we install it. If a standard mount fits your situation better, we do that.
  • Is there ever a case where you recommend NOT mounting above the fireplace?
Yes. Rarely, a fireplace is not a good candidate for above-mounting, usually because of heat output or because there is no safe spacing available. When that is the case, we tell you honestly and suggest an alternative wall before we start the job.
