WHAT IT IS

An 85 inch TV is a different install. The weight alone, often 100 pounds or more, changes everything about how the job gets done. The mount has to be rated for it. The wall has to hold it. The hardware has to be selected for the exact TV model. And the install itself usually takes two sets of hands.

We work these installs regularly. We show up with the right mount, the right tools, and the right approach for handling a TV worth thousands of dollars. Most customers help with the lift, which is normal for a TV this size. We walk through the plan before anything comes off the ground.

OUR RULE

Never trust a $3,000 TV to a $50 mount. A big TV needs a heavy-duty mount selected for that specific model. If you already have a mount, we are happy to evaluate whether it will actually work before the TV goes up.

Location also matters. We do not recommend mounting an 85 inch TV into plain drywall without stud support. Brick, stone, or multi-stud anchoring is where these installs need to live.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Every 85 inch install gets this. No upsells. No surprises.

  • Heavy-duty mount rated for the TV weight

  • Multi-stud, brick, or stone anchoring

  • Two-person install (we bring one, you or another adult at home helps with the lift)

  • VESA-correct mount selection for the specific TV model

  • Cable concealment or surface routing

  • Leveled, tested, and finished clean

THE REAL TALK

IS MY WALL STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD AN 85 INCH TV?

Maybe, maybe not. That is the honest answer. Plain drywall without stud support is usually not the right place for a TV this size. Brick, stone, or a wall where we can anchor into multiple studs is where these installs actually belong. We look at the wall first and tell you what we see before we commit to mounting.

CAN I USE MY EXISTING MOUNT FOR A BIGGER TV?

Depends on the mount. A lot of mounts rated for smaller TVs will not hold an 85 inch safely even if the VESA pattern technically matches. We have seen mounts that advertise large TV compatibility and still do not fit correctly on certain models. If you already have a mount and you are unsure, we can evaluate it before the TV goes up. If it is not right, we can recommend the right one.

  • Wow! What a great experience having a professional like Mike to wall mount our 75 inch TV. He had great communication and he was prompt, professional, and friendly. Don't be tempted to hire a generic handyman to mount your expensive TV when you can hire a real Pro like Mike. We give him our highest recommendation!

  • Called around to multiple people and I am VERY glad I chose this guy. I had a relatively difficult tile mount and he did an amazing job, came on time, super personable, and all around great service.

COMMON QUESTIONS

  • How heavy is an 85 inch TV?
Most 85 inch TVs weigh between 80 and 130 pounds depending on the model. A few premium sets cross 140 pounds. The mount and wall both need to be rated for the actual weight.
  • Does my wall need to be reinforced for a big TV?
Sometimes. Plain drywall without stud support is not the right place for a TV this size. Brick, stone, or a wall where we can anchor into multiple studs handles the weight properly. If your chosen wall does not have that, we discuss alternatives before we start.
  • Can I use my existing mount for a bigger TV?
Only if the mount is rated for the actual weight of the new TV and the VESA pattern matches on the specific model. We have seen mounts fail both tests. If you already have a mount, we can evaluate it before the TV goes up.
  • Is installation really a two-person job?
For an 85 inch, almost always. Most customers help with the lift, which is normal for a TV this size. If you are not able to assist, let us know ahead of the appointment and we will bring a second installer.
  • What mount do you recommend for a big TV?
For large-format TVs, we recommend the Sanus brand. They make mounts specifically designed to handle the weight and size of TVs in this range, and they are widely available at Best Buy and Costco. If you already have a different mount, we can evaluate whether it will work for your TV before the install.
